Inspiration

As a podcaster posting on YouTube, I was drowning in my own creativity. Notion for ideas, Google Docs for outlines, endless frustration connecting everything.

Notion felt like it's built for teams - giving me the impression I need to create clean, organized presentations. But I want to focus on idea creation, not organizing for others. My ideas were sinking in lists, becoming stale entries I'd scroll past without recognition.

YouTube's idea planner shows popular videos that don't represent my unique perspective. I realized: my best content comes from connecting my past ideas with current trends, not chasing generic suggestions.

What it does

Sparkly transforms rough ideas into polished content concepts through AI-powered intelligence:

• Spatial Canvas UI: Ideas as visual cards that don't sink into boring lists
• AI Auto-Tagging: Instant titles, descriptions, and smart categorization
• Smart Connection Discovery: AI surfaces forgotten ideas that relate to current projects
• Trend Integration: Connects your concepts with current news and topics

Challenges we ran into

Mobile Layout: The spatial canvas works great on desktop, but struggling with mobile. Considering a list-style approach but trying to find ways to display ideas better on small screens without losing the visual discovery magic.

AI Outline Editor: Building an AI-supportive outline editor is proving more complex than expected. Currently working on integrating AI assistance that feels natural in the writing flow.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

• Created a working spatial canvas that makes idea discovery feel natural
• Successfully integrated AI for auto-tagging and connection discovery
• Built a system that solves real creator pain points, not just adds features
• Moved beyond traditional list interfaces to something genuinely innovative

What we learned

• The real problem isn't storage, it's discovery
• Traditional lists kill creative thinking - ideas feel stale and forgotten
• AI should surface forgotten concepts, not just generate new ones
• Visual organization unlocks pattern recognition that text lists never could

What's next for Sparkly

Complete the content creation flow, solve mobile UI challenges, and build the perfect workflow for solo creators and small teams. Launch beta with podcasters and YouTubers to validate the core concept.
