Inspiration

What it does

Have you ever thought about making dinner, but then you check the pantry and are missing just one crucial ingredient? PocketPantry is an app that allows users to find and share ingredients that others don't need or are willing to share! You can join groups that you want to be a part of (such as your whole building, or just your roommates) and see real-time updates of what food items your friends need. Use it for cooperative grocery lists, missing pantry items, and more!

How we built it

We built it using React Native and SupaBase. The front-end is built in React Native, the logic is delegated to files that don't contain components, which queries the database using SupaBase.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge we faced was the learning curve. None of us had ever used React Native or SupaBase before, so whenever we wanted to accomplish a new task, we had to research syntax and what components and functions React Native and SupaBase offered.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are very proud of what we were able to create in 24 hours we believe that the app we made is well-designed and intuitive.

What we learned

We learned how much we can accomplish if we put our minds to it. We tried to do a project as a group before, but never made significant progress because our schedules filled up. This experience not only taught us new technologies, but also that we can create something really exciting if we take the time and effort to do so.

What's next for PocketPantry

We want to implement a chat feature so that users can message each other directly through the app, eliminating the need for outside apps for coordination.
