Inspiration

Many students struggle to understand complex concepts through textbooks and traditional explanations alone. We wanted to make learning more visual, interactive, and engaging by helping students see the ideas they find difficult to understand.

What it does

PocketLab is an AI-powered visual learning platform that aims to turn confusing concepts into personalised visual experiments. Students can explore concepts through visual explanations, compare scenarios, and interact with simulations to develop a deeper understanding.

How we built it

We built PocketLab as a web application with an interactive user interface and a focus on visual learning. We developed interactive experiments to help students explore concepts and understand how changing variables affects outcomes. We designed the platform to support AI-generated educational visuals, with image generation intended to make abstract concepts easier to understand.

Challenges we ran into

One of our main challenges was making PocketLab more than a conventional educational chatbot. We wanted students to actively explore concepts rather than simply read answers. Another challenge was balancing visual appeal, interactivity, and educational accuracy while planning for image-generation API integration.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud to have developed an interactive learning experience that encourages students to explore concepts instead of passively memorising information. We're also proud of our idea of combining personalised visual explanations with experiments that let learners investigate concepts for themselves.

What we learned

We learned the importance of designing technology around a real learning problem, making complex information easier to understand, and balancing creativity with accuracy. We also explored how AI-generated visuals could make personalised learning experiences more engaging and accessible.

We plan to introduce features like personalised visual explanations, step-by-step learning guides, and more ways for students to explore, experiment, and test their understanding.
