💡 Inspiration

I came up with PocketGuide AI because I wanted to solve a simple, everyday problem: understanding complicated documents. School notices, application forms, and official instructions can contain important information that is difficult to understand. Sometimes, people know what a document says but still don't know what they need to do next.

I wanted to build something that could make this process easier and help people feel more confident when dealing with important information.

🚀 What It Does

PocketGuide AI is designed to turn complicated documents into clear, useful information. Users can scan or upload documents, extract text, get simple explanations, identify important dates and requirements, and organize their next steps using checklists.

The goal is to make understanding documents less stressful and more accessible.

🛠️ How I Built It

I used Replit to help develop PocketGuide AI, focusing on a clean, mobile-friendly interface and a straightforward user experience. I wanted the app to feel simple enough for anyone to use without needing technical knowledge.

I focused on the core workflow: getting a document into the app, helping users understand its contents, and turning the information into practical actions. I also considered accessibility, privacy, and how to handle unclear documents.

🧠 What I Learned

Building this project taught me that creating a useful AI application involves much more than generating answers. The application needs a good user experience, reliable text extraction, clear explanations, and ways for users to verify important information.

I also learned that AI can make mistakes, so users should be able to compare explanations with the original document instead of blindly trusting every result.

🧩 Challenges I Faced

Working with a zero-rupee budget meant I had to think carefully about tools, available services, and technical limitations. Another challenge was bringing document processing, AI explanations, and task management together into one simple experience.

I also had to consider what happens when a document is difficult to read or an AI service is unavailable. These challenges helped me understand the importance of building reliable features and providing clear error messages.

🌍 Impact and Future Plans

I believe technology should make everyday life easier. PocketGuide AI could help students understand notices, people navigate application instructions, and anyone dealing with complicated paperwork identify the information that matters.

My next goal is to improve document recognition, expand language support, strengthen privacy, and develop a native Apple version with on-device AI where supported.
