My partner was not able to provide vocal input so I did her part for her.
Inspiration
One day, when I was talking to my dad about this hackathon, he cracked a joke. I didn't think much about this, but later, I realized an excellent idea. What if there could be an application that would give you a joke, anytime- anywhere? I immediately called my teammate, and she loved it. Hence, PocketDad was born.
What it does
At the click of a button, Pocket Dad gives you a dad joke.
How we built it
We used HTML, CSS, and JS and the dad joke API.
Challenges we ran into
Both of us were beginners to HTML and CSS, so it was difficult to make a pretty website in the time that we were allotted. However, through a mixture of late-night hot chocolate, group coding sessions, and various YouTube tutorials, we pushed through it.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of the general look and feel of our website, which looks great, considering the lack of experience both of us had.
What we learned
We learned how to use HTML and CSS, and tell sleep not today, in order to get more coding done.
What's next for PocketDad
We're working on making it a Google Chrome Extension, as it would be easier to use.
