Inspiration

I like to fly for fun and I enjoy sharing all that I have learned with others. I have been wanting to do something that combines my love of aviation with my iOS skills. I went to get my instructor certificate renewed and while in a class with older pilots, it surprised me how their knowledge of airspace diminished. Airspace is fundamental to flying. I got my idea there and instead of paying attention to the instructor (oops) I started sketching out possibilities for an app to help pilots to brush up on their airspace knowledge.

What it does

This app does 3 things. The user can read about the different airspace, they can take a multiple choice quiz or they can do a written type quiz where they can answer a question as if the examiner asked them.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge was making this intuitive while staying true to iOS development of simple and to the point. I didn't want to add too many buttons and navigation ideas.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am proud of everything, it seems simple but that was the whole point I didn't want to make it complicated.

What we learned

It's funny I wanted to build this to help others learn about airspace, but as I was putting the content together there were things that I didn't know and now I do.

What's next for PocketCFI-Airspace Review

I want to add a 3D model of a small chunk of airspace that the user can interact with. They can select and deselect different airspace types. I think seeing something in 3D vs 2D makes it easier to comprehend the different levels
