Inspiration
The idea for Pocket Sensei comes from a very personal place. I’ve been in that awkward spot—staring at LinkedIn profiles, overthinking every word of a message, doubting whether I should even reach out. And on the rare occasions when I did muster the courage to send a message, most replies were either delayed, generic, or didn’t come at all.
At the same time, the learning space around me was flooded with expensive bootcamps, paid courses, and online gurus pushing programs that often felt more like marketing funnels than genuine learning paths. People are paying huge sums just to get a portfolio—without actually building real, applicable skills.
I wanted to create something for people like me—those who just want clarity, a starting point, what to learn and the confidence to grow—without second-guessing themselves or breaking the bank. Something that focuses on building strong foundations, applying knowledge, and tracking real progress—not just consuming content.
This project is my way of making structured, outcome-driven learning more accessible, affordable, and authentic.
What it does
Pocket Sensei – Your AI-Powered Career Co-Pilot Pocket Sensei is an AI-driven upskilling platform that helps users navigate career transitions, grow in their current roles, or explore new skills with clarity, structure, and outcome-driven learning.
🚀 How It Works (MVP) Users simply enter a prompt like:
“I want to be a Data Analyst”“I'm a frontend developer with React/Angular experience looking to upskill in AI.”
Pocket Sensei uses AI to understand the user's intent and generates a 5-level personalized learning roadmap. Each level includes: Curated learning resources (videos, articles) from across the web Topic-based quizzes (5 MCQs per topic) Score-gated progress: Users must score ≥60% to unlock the next topic or level Hands-on challenges: Users upload work (image/PDF/doc) as proof of learning
This approach ensures practical application—not just passive content consumption. For premium users, Pocket Sensei builds a live portfolio showing: Topics completed Submitted projects/tasks Time taken per roadmap Consistency and learning streaks

How we built it
I had a clear idea about the app since it was in my notes under App ideas for some time. I Mostly used bolt.new to create it. Started with a clear prompt, Then everything was built on top of that
Challenges we ran into
A lot of times tokens were flying off and bolt didn't seem to make any progress but I think it made me grow as a vibe coder being a ux designer. Even some small bug fixes took a lot of tokens which could have been done by manual fixes. Used GeminiAPI for AI after a long time trying to make things work with Bolt AI.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
As a Designer I think I have made considerable improvement in react native. The product idea coming into existence itself is an accomplishment for me. When I showed to people who are actually into learning, Developing skills, People with passion asked me to share the application and send the APK to them
