Inspiration
Pocket Curator brings the delight of a miniature museum into a visitor’s space. Its garden collection turns a flower, bee, and mushroom into a playful invitation to look closer.
What it does
In Lens Studio’s interactive preview, select one of three large buttons to reveal a short nature fact and bring that exhibit to life. The flower sways, the bee hovers and flaps, and the mushroom pulses. Selecting another switches the fact and animation. The collection sits on a virtual shelf; it does not detect a real tabletop.
How it was built
The SPECS Lens was made in Lens Studio 5.23.2 using TypeScript, CLAD workflows, and the Lens Studio MCP. The Spectacles Interaction Kit and Spectacles UIKit provide the interactive controls. Procedural MeshBuilder geometry creates the exhibits, and locally synthesized audio provides a music bed. Devpost Learn’s AR design and preview guidance informed the design. The first build did not include the skill’s learner interview or a pre-build brief; a retrospective draft documents the actual process.
Challenges and testing
An early UIKit layout initialization error was fixed. All three buttons were exercised in the laptop preview, and the final compile and runtime log were clean. The automated preview-inspection helper was incompatible with the package names in this project, so the interactions were checked in the preview instead. Real-device comfort, hand tracking, and audio quality remain unverified.
