Inspiration

The problem we encountered was particularly relevant to our personal life and surroundings. Friends and peers were disengaging more and more with the news because they felt overwhelmed and the easiest thing to do was to click away. This is why Plug takes into account the mental health component of the user and how his experience while using the app can be optimized.

What it does

Based on a psychological question based survey at the beginning of the app, Plug will display the top 5 new articles or reports that instead of triggering any emotions the user might be feeling, it helps them feel at ease and actually enjoy reading the news.

How we built it

Since we had no coding experts nor engineers in our team, we used a variety of design platforms (Wix and Marvel) to build a prototype and show the judges what the main idea behind Plug is.

Challenges we ran into

Since none of the members of our team are engineers nor have any experience with coding, our biggest challenge was creating a prototype for Plug.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were able to design a very cool final product, that although may not give judges the full user experience, it gives them an idea about what the app is about and where we are hoping to take it.

What we learned

Mentorship is key. There are so many details that you don't think about as a team. It was after talking to our mentors and looking for several perspectives that we found how important it is to consider every aspect of the business and how we are going to bring any value to our market by going forward with the product.

What's next for Plug

Looking for developers that would be willing to work with us in order to launch the app. Also trying to raise capital in the form of investment, loans or grants.
