We are software engineering students, and as such, we identified the need to help students from different universities in Ensenada collaborate and help each other out.
What it does
Our app helps this purpose by creating a platform exclusively for this issue. It's a collaborative forum in which students need to sign in and specify their school and major. That way, the information that they provide is going to be more trustworthy than having your questions answered by anyone on the internet.
How we built it
To build our app we used Android Studio for the user interface and MySQL and PHP for the database.
Challenges we ran into
Four of our team members are only in third semester, so their abilities were limited to Java. Only one of us knew how to build a database. The challenge was trying to learn something we had never done and still try to make it work it's best.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are all really proud of what we accomplished, taking into account that we had never tried to do anything like this before. Even if we don't win, we are happy, though very tired, of the opportunity that we have had participating in this hackathon.
What we learned
We learned that we are far more capable of developing a project than we thought we were. We have learned to cope through the mistakes and those quiet hours in the early morning when nothing worked out the way it should. We learned that building something is not as hard if you're willing to give it your best.
What's next for Plubber
We plan to keep developing this app and release it in the near future. However, it still has a long way to go.
