Inspiration

Imagine Mary, an 80 year old woman diagnosed with Dementia. Mary’s family doctor prescribed an antipsychotic medication for her which is recognized by the FDA as detrimental to the health of patients with dementia. This story sparked Project Lore. Mary’s doctor is not at fault. It is impossible for doctors to read 5000 articles a day in order to stay up to date with conflicting treatment plans.

The need

We identified a need for patients and their families to take their care into their own hands. This need can be addressed by providing a platform for pre-med students to showcase their expertise and community impact, while gaining valuable perspective on how to deliver better healthcare. Students annotate data, and patients get better healthcare.

We thought about

what data we needed from research articles to help patients get best practice how to make a simple workflow for annotators how we could add value to student annotators lives
