Inspiration
Training plans rarely account for how someone actually feels today. PlayReady was inspired by a simple question: should I follow the plan, reduce the effort, or recover instead?
What it does
PlayReady turns a short check-in—sleep, fatigue, soreness, stress, and recent training load—into an explainable readiness score. It then provides three adaptive workout options, recovery actions, a what-if simulator, and a flexible seven-day outline.
How we built it
PlayReady is a responsive web application built with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript and deployed through GitHub Pages. Its transparent scoring logic connects each check-in factor to the readiness result and training recommendation. Browser storage preserves check-ins, sessions, feedback, and progress without requiring an account.
Challenges we ran into
The main challenge was making the recommendations useful without pretending to provide medical certainty. We also had to connect the score, workout choices, recovery actions, weekly intentions, and post-session feedback into one understandable flow.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We built a complete daily decision loop: check in, understand the score, explore alternatives, choose a workout, complete the session, and use feedback to improve future effort recommendations.
What we learned
We learned that transparency matters as much as the final score. Users need to understand why a recommendation changed and still retain control over the final training decision.
What's next for PlayReady
Next steps include wearable integration, longer-term trend analysis, personalized scoring, cloud synchronization, and testing the recommendations with real athletes and coaches.
