PlayMyFeelz instantly matches your mood—whether you're sad, excited, or motivated—with the perfect Spotify playlist. Just pick how you feel, and let the music play your vibe.
I got this inspiration from my frequent streaming of music on Spotify, and I just had a thought - "why not make a simple app that recommends playlists based on a listener's mood?" And that's how PlayMyFeelz was born
It takes in a user's mood selection and suggests playlists on Spotify that fit the theme. The background of the app also changes to reflect the current mood - red for anger, rose for romantic, etc
This was built in Bolt.new for the WLH One Shot Challenge. I used a fairly lengthy prompt to give Bolt an idea of what I wanted, as well as uploaded my own UI design I made in Figma, plus the app logo and the Bolt badge.
The one-shot challenge. It was quite challenging getting what I wanted in just one prompt. This made me create multiple versions of the app with new projects created in Bolt until I finally got it!
I'm proud of this, the ability to create ideas that come to mind, easily and fast, with a reliable tool like Bolt.
I've learnt more about client-side coding, API use and scenarios which might dictate the direction of an app. Plus, an added bonus on user experience and mobile responsiveness.
I plan to expand this, not just recommending a few playlists, but also for the user to share their playlists based on their mood, from the web app. Also, I might introduce other audio streaming platforms, as well as include podcasts (the first will be the true crime genre featuring MrBallen!)
