Immersive Storytelling in the Playgrounds Using Google's Geospatial Creator and Adobe Aero
Inspiration
Our project is inspired by the captivating Anansi stories from West African folklore. In collaboration with mud cloth artist Kathye Arrington, we aimed to bring these tales into the modern digital age, creating a unique educational resource. Our Anansi playlist, foundational to our inspiration, is available here.
What We Learned & What We’re Proud Of
Our journey has been a deep dive into immersive technology and the art of storytelling. We're proud of how we've melded traditional art with AR technology, creating an educational tool that resonates culturally and technologically.
What It Does
We've created an AR experience that brings Anansi tales to life through mud cloth textured 3D assets. These are designed to be an educational resource for teachers and students worldwide, offering an engaging way to learn about African folklore and art.
How We Built It
Our project was built using Adobe Aero and Geospatial Creator, focusing on creating culturally authentic and technologically innovative Anansi-inspired 3D assets. The process involved research, design, and iterative testing to ensure a seamless AR experience.
Challenges We Faced
We faced challenges in maintaining cultural authenticity while optimizing for technology. Ensuring our AR experience was accessible and engaging globally was a significant task, requiring a delicate balance between technical proficiency and narrative depth.
What’s Next
Our future plans involve expanding our project to include more stories and interactive features. We aim to evolve into a comprehensive educational platform, fostering learning about African culture and art in an engaging, immersive format.
