## Inspiration We wanted to solve a common yet overlooked problem: how hard it is to find people nearby to play sports with. Most platforms connect you online — we built one that gets you offline. Whether you’re new in town, switching sports, or just looking for a quick match — Play-Connect brings the community to your fingertips.

## What it does Play-Connect is a web app that lets users: Connect with people who play the same sports nearby Share updates via posts, stories, and achievements Book venues for matches or fitness Rent or buy sports gear locally Host or join sports events All in one streamlined, social-first platform.

## How we built it Frontend: Built using Bolt.new, enabling fast UI iteration with vibe coding Backend: Powered by Supabase for user auth, database, real-time updates, and media storage Tech Stack: React (via Bolt.new) Supabase (Auth, Realtime DB, Storage) Tailwind-style UI components Hosted as a progressive web app (PWA-ready)

## Challenges we ran into The biggest challenge was designing a visually engaging and intuitive UI that felt as seamless as a social app but also supported practical utilities like gear rental and event booking. Balancing aesthetics with usability was tough — especially under time constraints. Other challenges included: Structuring a clean, unified post flow that supported multiple content types (stories, images, achievements) Handling media uploads and rendering efficiently with Supabase Making real-time updates smooth without cluttering the interface

## Accomplishments that we're proud of Built a fully functional MVP in days. Combined real-time social features with practical tools like gear rental and venue booking. Delivered a clean, intuitive interface with Bolt.new and no custom CSS. Successfully integrated Supabase services for a full-stack experience without heavy infra.

What we learned

How to rapidly develop polished UIs using vibe coding with Bolt. Best practices for real-time apps using Supabase. The value of designing around user flow first, then building features to support it. How social features can significantly improve engagement in utility-based apps.
