Inspiration

Growing up, I loved playing simple, classic games like Stone Paper Scissors, Snake & Ladders, and Ludo with friends and family. In today’s fast-paced digital age, these timeless games are slowly fading away. I wanted to bring them back online—reviving the nostalgia and making them accessible to everyone, anytime.

What it does

PlaybackTime is a web-based platform that brings classic childhood games like Stone Paper Scissors, Snake & Ladders, and Ludo back to life. It allows users to:

  • Play solo or with friends on the same device.
  • Enjoy interactive, turn-based gameplay through a clean and nostalgic interface.
  • Switch between multiple games easily in one seamless experience.
  • Relive childhood fun anytime, anywhere—no downloads needed.

How we built it

I used Html, Css and Javascript to create a responsive and interactive website. Each game is embedded as a standalone web app, with shared UI elements for consistency. I implemented logic using JavaScript and plan to expand multiplayer functionality using Firebase or socket.io in the future.

Challenges we ran into

-Designing game logic that mimics real-world play. -Creating a seamless UI across multiple games. -Balancing simplicity with functionality. -Debugging interactions and turn-based game logic.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Successfully recreated classic childhood games in a browser-friendly format.
  • Designed an intuitive and nostalgic user interface that appeals to all age groups.
  • Implemented smooth game logic using vanilla JavaScript without relying on heavy game engines.
  • Made the platform mobile-responsive for users to play on any device.
  • Revived emotional memories and received positive feedback from early users who felt connected to their past.

What we learned

-Game development logic in vanilla JavaScript. -Responsive web design and modular coding. -User interaction flow and UI/UX design principles. -Version control with Git and GitHub.

What's next for PlayBackTime

I'm planning to add user accounts, multiplayer modes, scoreboards, and more nostalgic games like Tic Tac Toe and Carrom.
