Inspiration
Sports are fun, but injuries can be life-changing. We wanted to create a tool that helps athletes, coaches, and parents prevent injuries before they happen. While many websites explain injuries, few combine education with interactive prevention. That's why we built Play-Safe: a website that teaches injury awareness and provides a daily risk-check to help athletes train smarter.
What we built
Play-Safe is a sports injury prevention website that includes:
- Injury Awareness Section: Cards explaining common injuries, their causes, and prevention tips.
- Daily Injury Risk Check: An interactive checklist evaluating muscle soreness, fatigue, skipped warm-ups, and prior injuries. Outputs Low / Medium / High risk with tailored advice.
- Prevention Tips: Simple warm-up routines, hydration reminders, and recovery suggestions.
The site is mobile-friendly, visually clean, and easy to use, so athletes can quickly understand their risk and take action.
Challenges
Building an interactive site in a short timeframe was challenging. We wanted the checklist to be intuitive and accurate while keeping the site lightweight and responsive. Using only HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, we had to balance design, usability, and functionality.
What we learned
We improved our skills in:
- Responsive web design
- JavaScript logic for interactive features
- UX design for health-related information
- Rapid prototyping under a tight deadline
