Inspiration
During pandemic most of schools transfered to the distance learning and started to use different platforms for online lessons. We faced with a problem as students, that most of the teachers have insufficient skills to use technologies in educational process. One of the main reasons is that platforms and apps which are used in our school have inconvenient interface and are hard to understand.
One more disadvantage of these platforms is that they are not used both for distance and offline learning.
That`s why we decided to create a platform with convenient interface and have all the needed functions, which could help to make distance and offline learning more interactive.
What it does
Our final product is a minimal viable product (MVP) that created for teachers and students and consisted of several services, connected in ecosystem,
Our platform is able to implement new learning methods. The platform is integrated into online and offline learning.
Only an educational organization can register new users.
The platform performs the following functions:
Monitoring the progress of students: student, class;
Timetable (both for teachers and students);
Blog;
library;
Achievements of students;
Achievements of teacher;
Parents` contact list;
-School event schedule;
-Educational games (a teacher can choose a template and adapt it according with a topic of a lesson);
- create a school project (students choose topic, gather a team. It
s easier with our platform to communicate and add files. Also Its more convenient for a teacher to check and assess a project).
The platform is clear, easy to use, interesting for teachers and students, has an attractive and modern design.
How we built it
In our project, we used Figma to create a beautiful website design. React, CSS, HTML, JavaScript, JSX, PostgresSQL, Node.js these languages we used to create MVP.
Challenges we ran into
There were many difficulties, starting with registration. Two members of the team of four know English at a minimum level. It was difficult to understand the topics on which we should write the project, to understand what the organizers write, organizational issues. The main difficulties were in understanding foreign speech
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Some of our participants took part in the hackathon for the first time. Our team is from Russia, so it was a great achievement for us that we participated in a foreign hackathon, managed to make a Figma layout not in our native language. Our team is proud of platform we made, we think it turned out to be very accessible, interesting, modern and easy to use.
What we learned
During this hackathon, we learned how to work in a new team, learned how to properly manage time for rest and work. We had to constantly translate a large number of messages in the translator, read them, it took more time than usual, since the language is not native. it was a cool experience to challenge ourselves and our abilities
What's next for Platform for education
For the future, we want to introduce more interactive learning methods in addition to games. This will help students not be distracted from distance lessons and better learn the material. Also create chats for students, teachers and parents, so that students can contact on any issues: educational or with problems that have arisen at school.
