  Don't waste it!!

**Inspiration I was inspired by the visible problem of food waste in our own community. My goal was to create a simple, hyper-local platform that could connect this extra food with those who needed it. **What it does PlatePledge is a web app that allows individuals and small businesses to post photos of their surplus food. Using a proximity-based system, PlatePledge recommends food listings for shelters, orphanages, etc to claim. **Challenges I ran into My main challenge was making the app useful without spending much on infrastructure. **What I learned I learned that simplicity is key and that community engagement is crucial. A technical solution is only as effective as the community that adopts it. Working directly with local groups in invaluable. **What's next for PlatePledge Depending on interest, I plan to test it comprehensively in my neighborhood
