Inspiration

Seeing the frequent posts about car burglary incidents on Reddit and Twitter inspired us to create a solution that can mitigate the growing problem in SF.

What it does

PlateMatch is a mobile app that uses license plate and vehicle recognition technology to flag and report mismatched vehicles potentially used for criminal activities. It provides city officials and authorized citizens with an admin dashboard for real-time incident reports.

How we built it

We developed PlateMatch leveraging advanced machine learning and image processing algorithms. The app detects car and license plate information from photos, compares it with a public database, and flags mismatches for potential criminal use.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of developing an app that actively contributes to community safety.

What's next for PlateMatch

We want to encourage usage of the app by concerned citizens. Additionally, finding additional image sources to collect more data on incidents.
