Project Submission for Devpost: "Plastic Hunt"

Inspiration

Plastic waste, which can take up to 500 years to degrade, is a critical environmental issue. Innovative recycling methods can transform this waste into constructive materials like bricks for building projects.

What It Does

"Plastic Hunt" is a game app that simulates a cleaner environment. Players are encouraged to collect virtual plastic bottles, fostering real-world action and supporting Sustainable Development Goal 3 for good health and well-being. Players can share count on social media, save count on google wallet or read about plastic waste on the environment.

How We Built It

The game is developed using Flutter and Dart, drawing on the 'super_dash' Flutter example for its framework. We also used a series of AI image-generation tools for most images in the game.

Challenges We Ran Into

Our development journey included overcoming obstacles in-game mechanics and server-side hosting, which we successfully navigated.

Accomplishments That We're Proud Of

We've created a game that empowers rural and urban communities to promote environmental cleanliness. Players can share their top scores on platforms like X and Facebook.

What We Learned

The development process taught us about building engaging games that serve a social purpose, uniting players towards a common goal of sustainability.

What's Next for Plastic Hunt

We aim to partner with organizations to reward actual plastic collection based on in-game achievements, incentivizing eco-friendly behavior.
