Inspiration

I was inspired from my friends and family, who are plant lovers. There are many articles online on how to care for plants, however, there is no actual existing applications that gathers all information and guides about plant care. I was also inspired by social media accounts such as X and Instagram, and I find that it would be interesting for users to be able to share pictures and knowledge about plants and nature, and at the same time, receive notifications regarding plant care activities. This will ensure that users will not forget to water their plants, reducing the risks of their plants wilting.

What it does

This application will be able to increase interactions between plant lovers without having to use another social media networking application, and information about plants will also be gathered and combined into this mobile application, which will make it easier for users to find and do research on the plants they would like to foster. Besides that, this application can also allow for the sharing of plant health and guides. As articles are provided on the topic of taking care of plants, this application will allow users who are new to this to learn more about the Do’s and Don’ts. Users will also be able to receive notifications on watering sessions and other plant care tasks that they are prone to forget about.

How we built it

The mockup of this project is created using Figma, however, for the actual implementation of the system, it will be developed using Flutter and Firebase.

Challenges we ran into

There is an existing system for plants social media application named PlantLife, however, I believe that by integrating a planner for plant care, as well as including guides and online events into PlantMe will make it more attractive for users.

What's next for PlantMe

PlantMe aspires to be a meeting point between users from different locations, and to organize in-app events such as virtual plant sharing, or even organizing offline events such as plant exchanges. I hope that this application will grow to become an app that gathers all like-minded plant lovers in order to cultivate a strong community.
