Inspiration

Picture this. Its early fall, the air is getting cool to the touch. The world around you is gearing up for a deep slumber and the plants you've shared the past 5 months of your life with are waving goodbye. as you go and pick the fuits of your labor you see a horrid sight. YOUR TUBERS HAVE KILLED YOUR TOMATOES!!! No one warned you of the intense rivalry that takes place in the garden bed, and now your the one hurt most by these conflicts. That's why at PlantMate we are dedicated to making sure no one else has to go through the same pain we did.

what it does

PlantMate is a garden companion website that plans garden plots using the principals of companion gardening. Companion gardening a form of gardening that prioritizes plants that are mutually benificial as opposed to traditional western gardening which prioritizes primary consumption over garden ecosystems.

The whole thing! designing a dynamic website subdivider that displays sprites in different boxes was something that was challenging and really brings the site together.

What we learned

Lucas wrote his first line of code last night. Katie Learned enough about plants to last her a lifetime.

What's next for PlantMate

Multivariable plant companions- have 2 or more starter plants and only show shared companion plants Light intensity and obstacle simulation, Personal plant profiles- add plants and save plots to profile More advanced factors and accurate data- Root systems, acidity, shade, nutrients, depth, water intensity, Perrenial/annual Scientific classification Percentage based Planting Cost effective plants Subdivisions based on type of plant
