Inspiration

Community gardens support the well-being of the community and we have to take responsibility to manage them. Also, Community gardens are a great way to promote diversity in your community by bringing cultural traditions, new experiences, and bringing together people who are passionate about sustainability and health. However, now it's a bit more difficult to know the actual impact your community garden has on your city since we're all living busy lives and even worst during a pandemic. So, our team decided to create an immersive virtual experience where people can see the positive impact of community gardens.

What it does

It allows a community member to support community gardens around them and learn more overall about the topic.

How we built it

Using Flutter for the front-end and firebase for the back-end. The google maps api and new api for pulling data.

Challenges we ran into

Not enough time to implement more information to the dashboard. We had to spend time trying to get more information to the dashboard such as how the user improved the quality of life in their area but we couldn't implement the feature.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We completed the app and it has almost all the features that were planned.

What we learned

We learned many different UI/UX approaches in Figma. It was our first using google cloud functions but the learning experience was good. The roadblocks we had, in the end, made us learn the most. Being stuck forced us to seek out help from others, research to find solutions, and even find new resources throughout the process.

What's next for Plantify

Add more information on the home page to show how the user affected the community. Show other users, which other users are supporting the community gardens around them.
