Inspiration
- Everyone has plants nowadays, but nobody seems to remember to water them. We hear more about plant fails than plan successes.
- It can be difficult to remember the last time you've watered your plants, which can lead to over or under watering
What it does
- Allows you to compile a list of all the plants you own
- Sets reminders for you to water them on specific intervals
- Provides basic care info for a wide range of plants
- Allows you to discover new plants based on categories
How we built it
- frontend: T3 Stack (Typscript, Next.js, tRPC)
- backend: Java

Challenges we ran into
- We had to brainstorm and come up with a feasible idea that was innovative and could be implemented within the given time frame.
- Some of our teammates did not have much experience using building a website and they had to learn more about it especially when it came to fixing issues.
- Due to the difference in participation mode (most of us attended in-person, while one teammate attended virtually), we had some difficulty collaborating, but we managed to get the project done
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Completing the project under the given time frame.
- Implementing a functioning backend
- Using an aesthetically pleasing UI
- Building a great website that is user-friendly and adheres to the theme
What we learned
- Collaboration with other developers
- Efficient time management
- Being present and helping each other out when needed
What's next for PlantCare
- Building a mobile app
- Adding more features
- Gathering more relevant data for user optimization
- Improving the UI
