Inspiration
We wanted to try and pursue the environmental track in an unconventional way, by creating a project that fosters visibility.
What it does
Plant planner is a to-do list based app where you can list out things you want to do for a time period (e.g 1 week). As you mark tasks as complete, it simulates
How we built it
We primarily focused on creating a basic website that could navigate to our subsections, being our to-do list, our tree, and a daily tracker that showed the overall progress made in a more simple format.
Challenges we ran into
Overall, the primary challenge was integration of our tasks with the other two sections. Despite trying to transport the data of completed tasks to our other sections (and other html files by extension) we couldn't do this, and opted to try and get working prototypes of our two sections that didn't work.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Everything! Coming into this, we didn't have much web dev experience and this allowed for a fun way to explore our skills.
What we learned
The concepts of front and back-end, what HTML/CSS/JS were and how they all interact together to create a cohesive whole in the form of a working website, and how to generally use the aforementioned languages to achieve visual elements in websites.
What's next for Plant Planner
We plan to create a social media where individuals can track their environmental friendliness with each other, by viewing each other's trees.
