Inspiration

As computer science students we often do not go outside enough so we wanted to encourage users to go outside and enjoy all nature has to offer as well as give people the incentive to go out daily with friends.

What it does

Users are able to scan plants in their surroundings and add them to their compendium. Users get points for taking photos of plants around them with bonuses applied for finding new plants and rare plants. Bonus point multipliers are also given to users for getting more steps in a day. Users are able to log in, view plant information and compare their scores on global leaderboards to encourage friendly rivalry. New plants can be added to the compendium if a user is the first to discover them out of all users.

How we built it

We used capacitor to convert a web application into a mobile phone app to be used for android. APIs were used to help convert data between formats. A database is used to store information on players and the plants. Machine learning is used to identify plants.

Challenges we ran into

Getting the GPS/step counter to work as Google fit shut down :(.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Making our first mobile app ever and how well it turned out.

Thank you for the experience it was very fun :)
