Inspiration / What it is
Plant based is little slice of life 2D rpg game where the user plays as an adorable duck character. You live an alternate peaceful lifestyle growing a variety of different edible flora. The current game version includes wheat, tomatoes, potatoes, cherries, rice, barley, pumpkins, apples, carrots, and corn. The background of the game is split into a grid, where the player can interact with a tile, and choose to plant whatever they desire. There is also a button where the player can find interesting info on each plant, such as, their scientific name, health benefits, preferred season in which they can grow, and a fun fact! It also tells the player how many seeds it costs to plant, and how many seeds it will produce. The game is focused on creating a calming environment where players can relax and find an escape from a chaotic life, while learning new information on different plants. The game is targeted towards a younger audience in hopes that they will familiarize themselves with a lifestyle in which produce can be grown in our own homes. The game is meant to teach both a sustainable lifestyle, and general plant knowledge.
How we built it
Challenges we ran into
All of our group members are fairly inexperienced with coding, especially with the pygame library, so most of us were learning the library as we went. We also had difficulty with timing, as we were too ambitious with it, and ran out of time.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The general game looks amazing in our opinion, and the idea behind it is something that we are proud of.
