Inspiration - Throughout the last term, our team and many of our peers struggled with keeping up with our assignments. With loose due dates in place and little interaction from the teacher, assignments were completed the night before they were due, leading to loss of sleep and immense stress. Something that helped us get through that was manually creating a schedule to follow to help us complete our work on time.

What it does - Although not completed and with only some UI elements, the end goal of this application is to help students feel and be more organized. By having a program create a schedule for you catered to your needs, it allows little room for error and much less stress. This website aims to relieve the stress many students feel due to the lack of organization by creating a personalized schedule for students using AI. The program takes in assignments uploaded by teachers and scans them, taking into account the length of the assignment and the difficulty. After doing this, the program estimates the amount of time it will take to complete the assignment. Using this information, as well as information inputted by the students, such as clubs and other activities that they participate in, the program creates a schedule for the student made for maximum productivity, including breaks, reminders, and many other features to keep students on the track for success and getting all of their work done.

How I built it - Our team built it using only HTML/CSS, since those are the only languages we knew how to apply to this problem. It was a learning process, trying to find different elements and attributes to use, but it came together for the most part towards the end.

Challenges I ran into - One of the major challenges we ran into was how to include JavaScript in our website. We really wanted to make it interactive and add some interesting features, such as a time line that updated itself as you went throughout your day, the actual AI elements of the app, uploading capabilities, an animated progress bar, and much more. However, due to our lack of knowledge we were unable to complete those elements. Due to this setback. we decided to focus out time on the HTML/CSS aspects of the website and plan those out.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of - We built our first almost-full website, and such a limited time frame! This was our first hackathon and all of us were very excited to have completed a project in a language that we weren't super familiar with. Although improvements could obviously be made, the overall product was presentable.

What I learned - I learned a lot about CSS, and how to size elements and place them in the website. I also learned how important colors can be to a website. I also learned how important it is to communicate with your team and make sure everyone is on the same page, and divide up the work so no one has an excessive amount on their plate. I also learned how important it is to identify everyone's skill sets before the competition so it is easier to divide the work.

What's next for Planned Out - We plan on finishing up out website, making it compatible for all sizes of screens, introducing JavaScript elements to application, and add in the AI to make the program do what it was originally intended to do. It will be fun for all of us to learn more about these topics and over the summer develop a more finished and polished product that we can show to the world.
