Inspiration
As busy students, we found that we have a lot of content to study without time to watch full lecture videos. Because of this, we wanted to create a tool that processes youtube links and generates a study plan based on the essential information in the video.
What it does
Users input the number of hours they have to study, and either their notes or a link to a youtube video. PlanIt efficiently processes the input and generates a thorough 8-phase study plan for users, noting how long users should spend on each phase.
How we built it
Using Djano, python, openAI API and youtube transcript API.
Challenges we ran into
This was all of our first times creating a website, so it was difficult to decide which frameworks to use, and the different tradeoffs that each of them provide.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that we have created a functional product that can provide real value to users.
What we learned
We learned how to use APIs, integrate Django in a working environment, and compose a web development project with multiple functioning parts.
What's next for PlanIt
We would like to expand our web app to include features for audio files and an option to download a summary of the users input file. In the future we willl launch a PlanIt mobile app for studying on the go!
