Inspiration

Cloud security teams spend too much time switching between tools to understand runtime drift, compliance posture, and infrastructure changes. We wanted to build a single platform that helps teams continuously monitor cloud risk, understand what changed, and take action before small issues become security incidents.

What it does

PlanGuard is a Cloud Risk Operations platform that helps organizations monitor runtime drift, cloud security posture, website security posture, and compliance readiness from a single workspace.

It brings together security findings, assets, attack paths, compliance reporting, and remediation workflows so engineering and security teams can quickly identify, prioritize, and resolve cloud risks.

How we built it

PlanGuard is built using React, TypeScript, FastAPI, Python, PostgreSQL/Supabase, and modern cloud-native technologies.

During OpenAI Build Week, we used Codex extensively throughout development to accelerate engineering, refine the architecture, redesign major parts of the user experience, implement new functionality, and iterate much faster than traditional development workflows.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was keeping the platform simple while presenting complex security information.

We spent significant time redesigning dashboards and workflows so engineers can quickly understand risk without being overwhelmed by technical details. We also worked to unify runtime security, compliance, and website security posture into a single experience.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Expanded PlanGuard with Website Security Posture Management (WSPM).
  • Redesigned the executive dashboard and core operations experience.
  • Rebuilt the findings, reports, assets, attack paths, and users interfaces.
  • Added a lightweight notification framework for important cloud risk events.
  • Used Codex extensively to accelerate development, iteration, and implementation during Build Week.

What we learned

We learned that building security products isn’t only about detecting issues—it’s about presenting information in a way that helps teams make decisions quickly.

Using Codex throughout development significantly accelerated implementation and allowed us to iterate on product ideas, architecture, and user experience much faster.

What's next for PlanGuard

Our next step is to introduce AI capabilities that help security teams investigate runtime drift, explain security and compliance impact in plain language, recommend remediation steps, and make cloud risk management even more proactive.

We’re also expanding support for additional cloud providers, deeper compliance automation, and more integrations across the cloud security ecosystem.
