Inspiration
Our inspiration for PlanForge: Agile Poker Edition stemmed from our collective experience with agile methodologies and the need for a more streamlined and collaborative approach to planning sessions.
What it does
PlanForge: Agile Poker Edition simplifies the planning process for agile teams by facilitating collaborative estimation using the Planning Poker technique. It allows team members to assign relative effort points to tasks, fostering consensus and enhancing productivity.
How we built it
We built PlanForge using Flask for the backend, HTML/CSS/JS for the frontend, and integrated websockets for real-time communication. Bootstrap was used for the design framework, while SQLite handled database management.
Challenges we ran into
Our biggest challenge was integrating websockets into our application. It was our first time working with this technology, and we encountered several hurdles along the way. However, through perseverance and collaboration, we overcame these obstacles and successfully implemented real-time communication. There are still some small features we have not included, such as automatic updates of the estimations when choosing a new issue to vote on.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud that despite the challenges with websockets, we were able to create a functional application that fulfills our vision of enhancing agile planning sessions. Our accomplishment lies not only in the final product but also in the collaborative effort and problem-solving skills demonstrated by our team.
What we learned
Through building PlanForge: Agile Poker Edition, we gained valuable experience in working with websockets and honed our skills in frontend and backend development. We also deepened our understanding of agile methodologies and the importance of effective communication and collaboration within teams.
What's next for PlanForge: Agile Poker Edition
In the future, we aim to further enhance PlanForge by incorporating additional features such as user authentication, enhanced task management capabilities, and integration with popular project management tools. We also plan to gather feedback from users to continuously improve the application and ensure it meets the evolving needs of agile teams.
