Inspiration

We were inspired by the sci-fi and fantasy worlds of movies such as Avatar and Star Wars. We wanted to create an app that transports users to a futuristic, sci-fi world where they have the chance to immerse themselves while also learning more about the sense of interoception.

What it does

Planetra is an app that allows users to be more perceptive of their internal signals (interoception) in relation to the environment around them.

How we built it

We primarily used Figma, but used Figma Make for ideation and animation ideas.

Challenges we ran into

One of our biggest challenges was determining who the app was for. Our app appeals to a wide variety of users, and it applies to many types of people. So trying to narrow it down was difficult. Trying to consolidate the entire design process into four days was also a challenge, but it ultimately taught us a lot of valuable information about our design strengths and weaknesses.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were able to design a functional prototype within the span of four days, something we have never done before.

What we learned

One important thing we learned was to determine user needs first before moving to the wireframing phase. Another important thing we learned was how to establish a brand, and that this needs to be done early in the design process. Lastly, we learned the importance of design systems and their role in overall design consistency.

What's next for Planetra

Perhaps if given more time, we will return to this project and build upon our ideas, incorporating more features and cleaning up the interface some more.
