What it does## Inspiration
Combining the power of voice AI with spatial science and comparative planetology, Planetary Geology on Alexa+ bridges the gap between distant celestial bodies and our own terrestrial landscapes. Rooted in geoinformatics and planetary research, this skill serves as an interactive cosmic encyclopedia.
What it does
The skill allows users to explore the geological and cosmic profiles of inner planets, gas giants, dwarf planets, the Sun, asteroid belts, comets, and deep-space phenomena like black holes and nebulae. For every celestial body, it breaks down its unique formation history and pairs it with a scientifically accurate Earth analog (e.g., matching Mars' Valles Marineris to the Grand Canyon).
How we built it
- Backend & Logic: Built using Node.js and the Alexa Skills Kit (ASK SDK).
- Dataset: Curated planetary encyclopedia containing research-backed geological descriptions and terrestrial analogues.
- Interaction Model: Designed custom intents (
GetGeologyIntent) with slots ({planet}) to handle dynamic user speech seamlessly.
