Inspiration

We’ve all spent hours bookmarking TikTok travel videos, only to end up with a disorganized mess of "saved" posts that never actually become a plan. We wanted to bridge the gap between social media inspiration and real-world navigation.

What it does

PlaneFella converts TikTok travel videos into ready-to-use Google Maps itineraries. It takes a destination and duration from the user, finds the best local travel content, and extracts every mentioned location into a structured, navigate-able schedule.

How we built it

The platform uses a Python Flask backend and a React frontend. Scraping: We used a custom TikTok link scraper to find high-engagement travel content. Extraction: We integrated Whisper for audio transcription and Tesseract/OCR to "read" locations mentioned in video overlays. Intelligence: A GPT-based parser filters out social media noise to identify real geographic coordinates. Mapping: The react-google-maps library and a custom URL builder generate the final interactive routes.
