Inspiration
We wanted to do something that could simply help any individual who is dealing with a lot and has no one they are willing to talk to. Journaling was a thing that one of our team members relied on but sometimes when they stumbled upon the written note again, whether by accident or on purpose because they could still see it (such as it's in their memos, or google docs document, things that are opened up for other purposes); it brought back all the negative emotions again- which was counterproductive.
Paper airplane notes thrown in the sky are often associated with sending your hopes and wishes but we wish that the sky will accept our sorrows too ✈.
What it does
Plane and Simple Relief is a website that is meant to not overwhelm people who are in distress so they can write what they are feeling in the textbox and have it disappear with a simple click of a button.
If the user requests it, hopefully when they are feeling a lot more stable and ready to reread what they wrote, they can go see all the notes they wrote.
How we built it
Our team built it with React, Node, Bootstrap, TypeScript, and CockroachDB
Challenges we ran into
Time constraints, communication from frontend to backend
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Our team registered 3 hours late so we feel accomplished with everything we have done so far
What we learned
Teamwork.
I learned that I can do a hackathon spontaneously and an exam at the same time - Dalyla Nguyen
What's next for Plane and Simple Relief
Sign-up/Log-in feature. Request history of ‘sent’ notes. Mood detection tool for concurrent users writing notes: Connect users with similar emotions and provide an anonymous messaging tool for them. Calming music background switcher. Tips about healthy mechanisms users can implement into their lives.
Having a request button so users can request to look back at what they type, although it's not recommended to look back (should have a warning pop up sign).
