Inspiration: The problem of water scarcity is real. While the Governments & UN try to raise a collective voice to save water, I felt that this requires an individual effort by everyone.

What it does: planBLU thereby helps spread the consciousness about saving water through a single platform but a multi-pronged approach: As an interactive companion for telling you daily score, as a knowledge centre, as a social platform, as a market place for water-sustainable products and as a place that spreads awareness through gamification. At each step, the users are incentivised by a tip to save water, their water consumption score and rewards for participation. The plan is also to able to integrate the app with other content, social and e-comm apps.

How I built it: it is currently in a power-point format. The PowerPoint describes the objective, purpose and sample design of the app user experience.

Challenges I ran into Too short a time to design an app.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of: Being able to come this far as it required a lot of thinking and aligning with practicalities. It was an amazing learning experience. I also had to study sustainability in detail to be able to understand the subject matter appropriately.

What I learned: 1) The problem that I tried to address is real, 2) There is no short-cut to hard work, 3) Each step while making the app has to be thought through, 4) mistakes will happen, but you cannot give up and keep trying.

What's next for PlanBLU: 1) Completion of the app 2) designing of the app 3) finding out partners who can help with content, tech and awareness (UN, Responsible Corporates, Sustainable Brands etc.) 4) funding and putting a team together post conducting viability tests.
