Inspiration

After forming our group, our team began to brainstorm common issues that we encounter in our personal lives. We realized that as university students, we often forget to eat, stay hydrated, and stay on top of all of our responsibilities while studying or cramming for exams! We wanted to develop an app to help students manage their list of responsibilities and basic needs and make students' work-life balance more convenient and achievable.

What it does

Plan-it! is a mobile app that sends reminders to stay hydrated, eat meals, and helps us keep track of our daily tasks. Users can update how often they want to get reminders on hydration and food needs, and can also add and mark responsibilities as completed.

How we built it

Plan-it! is built using react-native and expo. All data is stored locally for ease of access without creating user accounts.

Challenges we ran into

One major challenge that we ran into was that many of our members are quite new to development. In fact, for all of our members, NewHacks 2022 is our very first hackathon! However, we pushed through and were able to complete the app in time.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud that we were able to finish the core concept of the app, without many bugs. We are also proud that we were able to practice git flow and feature branching on GitHub in order to optimize our development process.

What we learned

We learned to utilize GitHub well. We also had a lot of fun learning and exploring react-native, building on our development and communication skills!

What's next for Plan-it!

The future for Plan-It involves adding a few new features, and refactoring old ones! One of which would be a calendar that allows you to track how often you're compliant with drinking enough water in a day.
