Inspiration
The existing methodology of the laundry system involves manual entry of the cloth count by the users in a record book and verification of the count by the vendor at multiple stages of the laundry process. The existing workflow can be replaced by a laundry management system in the form of a software application, as it would provide a personalized experience and leaves lesser room for human-made errors.
What it does
- Users will be able to seamlessly place a laundry order.
- Users will be able to track their current order.
- Users will be able to navigate within the app as required using the breadcrumb bar or navigation buttons.
How we built it
We initially started with a paper prototype and then created the wireframe in Balsamiq. We also initiated an effort into creating a functional prototype using a no-code tool called Adalo, but are yet to complete it
Challenges we ran into
The main challenges were designing the New Order and Current order interfaces, such that we empathise with the users and create a seamless experience while navigating through the app
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are happy with the minimalistic design and feel of the app. We are confident that a user unaware with the app functionality will be able to navigate and use it for the actions it is intended to perform
What we learned
We learnt to work as a team despite the difference in backgrounds. We also learnt about designing applications while sensitising with the human in the loop and being mindful of user centric heuristics
What's next for Plaksha Laundry Service
- Implementing a functional application
- Enabling the user to mention custom categories for their order.
- Enabling the user to place specific orders (only rinsing or ironing). Implementing payments and notifications user flow.
- Implementing the wireframe for the vendor interface and then implementing a functional version of the app
