Inspiration

The inspiration behind our project, "Fannie Pack," stems from the desire to simplify and enhance the homebuying experience for everyone. We were driven by the frustration and confusion many people face when trying to secure a home loan, and we wanted to create a tool that empowers individuals with the knowledge and resources needed to make informed decisions about their homeownership journey.

What it does

"Fannie Pack" is a comprehensive platform that provides users with the ability to assess their eligibility for home loans, offering a user-friendly form for quick qualification checks. Additionally, it features a dynamic dashboard that reveals common reasons for home loan rejections. This tool is designed to demystify the complex world of home loans and guide users towards successful homeownership.

How we built it

"Fannie Pack" came to life through a collaborative effort, combining HTML and JavaScript for the front-end to create a user-friendly interface. HTML laid the foundation for web pages, while JavaScript added interactivity. On the back-end, we used Python and FastAPI to handle data processing and logic, efficiently managing loan eligibility assessments and rejection insights. To ensure smooth operation, we deployed uvicorn as our web server. This tech stack allowed us to deliver a powerful, user-centric solution for streamlining the homebuying process with "Fannie Pack."

Challenges we ran into

One of the significant challenges we encountered during the development of "Fannie Pack" was the absence of prior front-end development experience within our team. As a project primarily focused on providing a user-friendly interface, this posed a unique hurdle. We had to quickly adapt and learn the intricacies of HTML and JavaScript to ensure a visually engaging and intuitive user experience. Overcoming this learning curve demanded extra effort and collaboration, highlighting our team's dedication to delivering a well-rounded solution.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're immensely proud of creating a tool that has the potential to make a significant impact on people's lives. What we learned

During the development of "Fannie Pack," we gained a deep understanding of the intricacies of the home loan application process. We also learned the importance of a user-centric approach in simplifying complex financial procedures and providing people with the support and information they need.

What's next for Fannie Pack

Looking ahead, we plan to expand and enhance "Fannie Pack" by incorporating more features, such as personalized financial advice, real-time interest rate tracking, and partnerships with financial institutions. Our goal is to continue evolving our platform to better serve the needs of our users and further revolutionize the homebuying experience.

I worked on the dashboard and some parts of the API. It was also my first time doing front-end, so I learned a lot during this hackathon about JavaScript and REST APIs.
