Inspiration
Chorded input is underutilised especially for form-factors with so few buttons, such as game controllers and disability aids.
What it does
Uses a combination of two joysticks to produce ~64 unique keyboard inputs, dedicating certain pairs to common words, AI suggestions and frequent operations. Optional controller modifications are used with hardened joysticks that are more precise for lower motor abilities, all designed to easily apply to any controller and useable on any phone.
How we built it
Runs in Unity to flexibly handle many devices and types of joystick input. With a lightweight AI predictive model for faster typing and training.
Challenges we ran into
Frontend direction, with work being focused on the backend engine running smoothly and functionally
Accomplishments that we're proud of
In-house machine learning model and chorded theory
What we learned
Unity development, predictive AI, chorded inputs
What's next for WordSticks
Integration with user systems
