Inspiration

The Problem That Sparked Our Journey As a frequent hackathon participant, I've witnessed countless pizza ordering disasters—teams either starving with too little food or drowning in leftovers. The final straw was watching a 48-hour hackathon nearly derail because organizers spent 2 hours debating pepperoni vs. veggie options while hungry developers grew increasingly frustrated.

What it does

PizzaTogether is a mobile-first web application that takes the guesswork out of pizza party planning. The app features:

Smart Pizza Calculator: Algorithms that factor in age groups, appetite levels, and event duration to determine optimal quantities Community Voting System: Democratic topping selection that prevents endless debates Real-time Results: Live updates as votes come in, creating excitement and engagement

How we built it

React + Vite for a blazing-fast, modern frontend. Firebase Auth for secure, instant sign-in with Google. Firebase Firestore for real-time, cloud-hosted data (live voting!). Custom CSS (no frameworks!) for a premium, glassmorphic, VC-worthy UI.

Challenges we ran into

Some credit issues, lots of debugging, pivoting many times. Had to many issues with Tailwind so hand-crafted a modern, glassy look with custom CSS.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Completing a project and learning about new products.

What we learned

I learned about patience and resilience. Learned about Mongo DB even though I didn't use it in the end but glad I went to the workshop to know the tools out there.

What's next for Pizza Party planner

  1. Real-Time Group Planning Invite friends: Let users create or join party rooms with unique links. Collaborative editing: Multiple users can adjust guest counts, hunger levels, and see changes live.
  2. Personalized Voting One vote per user per topping: Prevent vote spamming and show users what they’ve voted for. User profiles: Let users set their favorite toppings and see their voting history.
  3. Order Integration Pizza delivery APIs: Integrate with services like Domino’s, Uber Eats, or local pizzerias to place orders directly from the app. Smart suggestions: Recommend pizza sizes, combos, and deals based on group preferences.
