Inspiration
Google's glance widget on their Android app has a beautiful weather UI. We wanted to make something similar for the iPhone.
What it does
PixWeather is a weather app with a sleek UI that provides daily and weekly weather forecasts and additional weather condition information like wind speeds, UV index, etc.
How we built it
We built it using Swift and SwiftUI.
Challenges we ran into
Trying to replicate Material-based UI on iOS was a little difficult.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The final result. The app looks really good and we're happy with the results.
What we learned
We've been wanting to make a weather app for a few years now. Weather apps are a lot more focused on design and building the app taught us a lot about different design languages and how to make colors work with each other.
What's next for PixWeather - Material Weather
We've several features and improvements planned for the next version of PixWeather. First and foremost, we want to improve the weather animations and illustrations inside the app. We believe that it would elevate the app experience even further.
Also, we plan to add support for Widgets, Dynamic App Icon, Forecast Notifications, etc.
