PixelTale is a social story telling game: 2 to 8 people take turns adding one word each to the same tale.

You open the app to a catalogue of tales create by other players. You can read all the public tales, and react to word submissions that you enjoy.

When you're ready, you can join a public game, or create a game inviting people you know, with the sharable link or friends in the app. Games have either 1 mintue or 24 hour turns, decided by the game creator.

Gameplay

Once in a game, you take turns in a round robin fashion, until you hit the limit of words for this story. Game can also end early if enough players timeout their turn or drop out from the story.

Plot Twists

Plot Twists are a fun mechanic similar to what you get in a game of Uno. You can Skip your turn, have 2 turns in a row with Extra Turn, or change the play order with Reverse. One twist per story is free; more cost 10 Bits.

Bits

Bits are the game's currency. You earn them by finishing tales (longer tales earn more bits), or buying packs. You can spend them on Plot Twists, and upcoming parts for your pixel character.

Twisty Rules and Pixel Pass

Every Friday there's a new Twisty Rule! Twisty rules are some interesting way to play that limits the words you can use, or change how Plot Twists work. Twisty Rules can only be enabled by players subscribed to our Pixel Pass holders, though anyone can play in that game.

Pixel Pass

This is an optional subscription, the game can be enjoyed entirely for free. It costs $3 a month, and currently has an introductory offer of $15 a year. The Pixel Pass also rewards loyal subscribers 1,000 Bits month after their 1st month.

Reactions and endings

Tap any word to react; the most-loved words in a finished story catch fire, fill with hearts or burst out laughing. When the last word lands the story closes on its own page with the word count and what everyone earned. It plays back word by word, in the app or on pixeltale.app, where anyone with the link can watch without installing anything.

Built on RevenueCat

Every purchase, the five Bits packs and the Pixel Pass subscription on both stores, goes through the RevenueCat SDK, and RevenueCat's webhooks are the source of truth for who holds the Pass.
