Inspiration

This project was inspired by our whole group's interest in adventure style video games. We find adventure games interesting to play, especially when the main character is controlled by the user.

What it does

The game's protagonist is a prodigy and has to save his kingdom from the 3 evil witches. He has to make his way to the king as he has been hidden by the witches.

How we built it

Our group utilized the Code.org web platform to develop this game. All of us collaborated on creating the graphics, lore/storyline, and gameplay.

Challenges we ran into

Initially, our group was struggling to use the camera on Code.org and make it follow the main character. Through trial and error and researching, we learned how to correctly use the camera.

As Code.org projects are not editable by more than one person at once, we had to code and do the project on one computer. We realized that this was not very collaborative and time-efficient which is why we decided to split up tasks that everyone could do on their own personal computer. Then, we rotated tasks and discussed our thoughts and ideas often. Sometimes, we would all still work together when it required the critical thinking of all of our group members.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Our group learned how to more efficiently code and create a game on Code.org. We managed to collaborate in a team environment and complete a project in a given time. We created a game that is way better than anything that we have created in the past.

What we learned

The team learned correct syntax for coding in java and block form. We gained intelligence on how some of the games that we play are coded and built.

What's next for Pixel Prodigy

As explained before, the main character goes to find the king and wins at the end when the king is found. This game could be expanded further through adding more characters and challenges. There can also be an extra part added where the main character has to bring the king back to his starting point.
