💡 Inspiration We wanted to build a game that breaks people—in the funniest way possible. Instead of rewarding progress or skill, PIXEL PAIN punishes curiosity, tests patience, and annoys you at every step. Inspired by the chaotic nature of internet overload, it’s a satire on modern digital life.

🎮 What it does PIXEL PAIN is a rage survival game hosted on Reddit. You’re constantly bombarded with irrelevant notifications, fake alerts, UI traps, and troll mechanics. Your mission? Survive the irritation without rage-quitting.

🛠️ How we built it We used the Reddit Developer Platform to design interactive post elements and layered them with chaotic mechanics using Bolt.new to rapidly prototype and connect components. The game abuses user interaction logic—popups, alerts, and intentional UX traps—baked into Reddit’s own environment.

🚧 Challenges we ran into Keeping the experience playable while maximizing annoyance

Implementing rage-inducing elements within Reddit’s limitations

Tuning the difficulty so it’s infuriating but addictive

🏆 Accomplishments we're proud of Creating a truly painful user experience—on purpose

Successfully hosting a game on Reddit

Watching users fall for the same bait again and again

📚 What we learned Bad UX is easy. Intentionally funny bad UX is hard

Reddit’s dev tools offer more flexibility than we expected

Bolt.new dramatically speeds up experimental builds

🔮 What’s next for PIXEL PAIN Adding rage-based scoring and leaderboard

Auto-generated bait notifications using AI

Mobile mini-version for daily irritation

“Therapy Mode” for people who lost too many brain cells playing

it was first built on bolt.new and the on reddit, took us multiple attempts and n number of chats, I have a record of two of those chats must have been 10-15. Attaching the two links.
