Inspiration
I always loved Picross and wanted to make a game like it. But I wanted it to be community driven to take advantage of Reddit's strengths.
What it does
It's Nonograms type of game where you have to use numbers on the sidebar to input pixels and build a picture in order to solve the puzzle. I'm excited to see what the community will create and how they will take advantage of the color and animate features. There's also leaderboards to give players some competition if they desire it.
How I built it
I used Kiro to build the game. I started with the spec system which went very smoothly. Then I switched to direct commands to polish the game, which took quite a bit of time.
Challenges I ran into
Things went pretty smoothly for the most part, but I had to cut some feature due to design issues or issues implementing them.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I'm happy to finally make it. I've been wanting to make a game like this for years, but never got around to it. Finally it's done.
What I learned
Making games for Reddit is an exciting idea because it provides a new way to play. It's given me many more ideas for potential games on Reddit.
What's next for Pixel Forge
There are some more features I would like to add to further polish the game. I also have some ideas for some powerups that could help players out if they're stuck.
