Pixel Farm

Inspiration

Looking for sustainable alternatives to imported foods and goods with a heavy environmental impact.

What it does

Pixel Farm helps users find nearby farmer's markets and allows participating farmers' markets and vendors to list and update related information like locations, times, and descriptions..

How we built it

We pushed farmer's market information from the data.hawaii.gov datasets to a database hosted on cloudboost, and built a front end site using html/css, javascript, and the Intel XDK.

Challenges we ran into

Finding a cross platform framework
Building tables using the Hawaii Open Data in Cloudboost
Determining productive collaboration spaces
Dynamic image storage and retrieval

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Google maps and location integration
Providing an organized easily accessible arrangement of the farmer's markets located on Oahu
