Inspiration
Cats. I like Cats. I also wanted item ownership in a game to mean something more than a database row. Solana gave me a way to let players actually own their rarest gear without breaking the game it lives in. I also like cats.
What it does
Pixel Cat Arena is a browser cat-battler: build a cat, gear it up, fight scaling PvE enemies, challenge other players, and trade gear on a fixed-price marketplace. Legendary items can be exported as real Solana devnet NFTs , and the item stays equippable in battle, but in-game selling/listing is permanently disabled once exported, because trading now happens wallet-to-wallet. Whoever holds that wallet can claim the item back into their account.
How we built it
Pixel Cat Arena is a browser cat-battler: build your cat, gear it up, fight your way through PvE, battle other players, and trade gear on a marketplace. Legendary items can be exported as real Solana devnet NFTs! Still equippable in battle, but once exported you can't sell or list it in-game anymore, since trading moves to the wallet. Whoever ends up holding that wallet can claim the item into their account.
Challenges we ran into
Art :( Also figuring out where the "truth" lives when ownership is split between a database and the blockchain.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Building the whole game solo, and getting a real devnet mint + real wallet-signature claim working end-to-end.
What's next for Pixel Cat Arena
Balance updates, new stats, new gear, new cats, new Stuff!
