Inspiration
We always found it challenging to decide what movie to watch during our movie nights. The endless scrolling through multiple streaming services often ate into our relaxation time. That's when we came up with the idea of "Pixel and Popcorn", a platform that helps users decide what to watch based on their mood, favorite actors, or genres.
What it does
Pixel and Popcorn curates a list of movies and shows available across various streaming platforms. Users can filter based on mood, actor, director, or genre. Once a user selects a movie, our app shows a map with nearby theaters or available streaming services.
Challenges
API Limitations: Some movie database APIs had limitations in terms of request frequency and data fields. State Management: As we were working with multiple filters and maps, managing the global state became complex. Google Maps Quota: We had to be mindful of the API quota for Google Maps, making sure not to exceed the free tier.
